Abstract

In the midst situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, new media is urgently needed considering the importance of community service to maintain democracy in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, with new media such as zoom cloud meetings, youtube, instagram, facebook, twitter, line today, etc. Can make it easier for the entire community to receive information at any time, without being hampered by distance and time. This has an influence on political communication, so that democracy can continue to run well and can be immediately accepted by the wider community. This research aims to analyze the role of new media in political communication, as well as the obstacles that occur in political communication in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. In this case, the writer uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis method by collecting data and information through literature review. The results of the research indicate that the role of new media has a significant influence on political communication.
